Listening: true or false
The first listening part at both levels shows a picture and plays a short recording. You decide whether they match: true or false. It is the easiest part to score in, if you know the trap.
The task
The words on the page.
On the answer sheet you mark the picture as matching or not. The skill is listening for the one key word, usually a noun or a verb, and checking it against the picture.
Two items
What the recording says, and the right answer.
The trap is a picture that matches almost everything: a man drinking, but coffee, not tea. Listen for the object as well as the action, and do not mark true until both match.
True or false
What usually decides it.
他 and 她 sound the same, so the recording cannot tell you which; the picture can. When the only difference is he or she, the item is testing something else.
The recording plays twice. Use the first play to catch the key word and the second to confirm it against the picture. Changing an answer on the second play, because you heard something you missed, is how most marks are saved in this part.
